About Toranomon Hills

Toranomon Hills
Toranomon Hills is a major skyscraper complex in Tokyo’s Minato district, developed by Mori Building Co., Ltd.

It includes four main buildings: the Station Tower, Mori Tower, Business Tower, and Residential Tower.

The complex offers office spaces, residential units, retail shops, restaurants, and a luxury hotel.

As a symbol of modern Tokyo, Toranomon Hills exemplifies the city’s dynamic blend of business, culture, and innovation.

Its strategic location and comprehensive facilities make it a key player in Tokyo’s ongoing evolution as a global business center.

Challenge

◾Mori Building Co., Ltd. has been developing the Toranomon Hills area since 2014, focusing on urban development integrated with transportation infrastructure.

◾By 2023, with the opening of the Toranomon Hills Station Tower, a need arose to track visitor movement and data to optimize the use of their diverse facilities and create a vibrant urban environment.

◾Mori Building sought a solution to monitor real-time foot traffic across their multi-functional urban areas.

The Solution

◾Mori Building adopted the cloud-based visitor counting system across the Toranomon Hills project.

◾This solution allowed them to collect data on the number of visitors in real-time, including movement patterns from the new Toranomon Hills subway station.

◾The data provided insights into how visitors interacted with different areas and facilities, as well as peak times and visitor flow throughout the day.

The Result

◾The system offered Mori Building valuable data on visitor movement, revealing unexpected insights such as peak congestion during morning rush hours and optimal event scheduling times.

◾This real-time data helped them adjust facility operations, improve traffic flow, and maximize foot traffic to retail spaces.

◾Additionally, the data enhanced their ability to attract corporate event organizers by providing concrete visitor numbers to justify investments. Mori Building continues to use this data to elevate the area’s brand value and refine future urban planning strategies.
