Challenge

◾In 2023, ASTY Shizuoka, underwent a major renovation with the goal of increasing its appeal to local customers and visitors.

◾With features including cinemas, entertainment areas, and large-scale attractions, the facility aimed to attract visitors from a wide region.

◾To better understand customer behavior and boost engagement, JR Tokai Shizuoka Development Co., Ltd. implemented customer counting system and demographic analysis systems, and introduced a digital coupon campaign to support promotional efforts.

The Solution

◾The system enabled precise tracking of visitor flow through key pathways and entrances, as well as demographic insights into different areas of the facility.

◾The beacon functionality integrated with the TOKAI STATION POINT app, automatically sending location-based promotions to customers' smartphones as they moved through the facility.

◾This approach significantly improved customer experience and engagement, as visitors received relevant offers at the right time, encouraging them to explore more of the facility and drive cross-store visits.

The Result

◾The solution not only increased customer engagement, but also contributed to a 16% increase in foot traffic following the renovation, particularly among the target demographic.

◾The beacon-driven coupon system resulted in higher open and redemption rates, increasing customer interaction and driving both store visits and average spend.
